Over the past century, private landowners and land conservation organizations have worked together to protect more than 1.5 million acres of open lands in Colorado using conservation easements. Today, specialized expertise in land use, conservation law, estate planning and complex state and federal programs is vital for landowners making long-term land conservation decisions for their families and their communities. A partnership between landowners and land conservation organizations built on respect for landowner circumstances and a land conservation organization’s commitment to service can result in a long and productive relationship. Our mission is to enhance the evolving partnership between landowners and land conservation organizations so that they develop long-term, responsible and mutually beneficial relationships that improve the stewardship of open land resources. |
